In order to get the most use out of your Koi ID CD you should start a new file folder on your desk top and name it "Koi ID". If you don't know how to do that here are instructions. I've added pictures that show all the processes listed below to help those that are where I was not too long ago. I needed step-by-step instructions with pictures. There are many that will be able to do more with this CD than I can, and I'd love to get emails with any suggestions on how to improve the Koi ID CD.

2. A new file folder will appear on your desktop as shown in the picture below. Before you use your mouse or hit any other key type in Koi ID to name the file folder. If you hit another key before typing the name in you will have a file folder with the name "New Folder". That's okay; I do it all the time. All you have to do now is right click on the file folder and select "Rename" and then type in Koi ID.

3. These are pictures of the renaming of a file folder. Right click on the file folder and then click "Rename". The name in of the folder will turn blue. Now type in the name you want the file to be called.

1. When you put the CD into your CD ROM drive it will open and show the files as in the photo below.

3. Now double click on your new folder to open it, click on "Edit" and then click on "Paste". Now all the files from the CD are in a file folder on your desktop. You can put the CD in a safe place in case you lose your computer files.

Now all you will have to do when you want to use the information on the CD is open your Koi ID file and double click on any of the web browser icons. Most people use MS Internet Explorer and their icons are the blue e. Netscape and other browsers have a different icon but it works the same. Double clicking on the "index" icon will open the program to the Home Page. It works like any web site but it will run a lot faster on your computer than it would on a web site on the Internet.
If you are reading a koi magazine or on a koi related web site and want to check the meaning of some of the words you can open your Koi ID, go to the glossary and drop it down to your tool tray so you can bring it up and check the meaning or pronunceation of a koi name or many other Japanese terms used with Nishikigoi.
As I learn more or find out I've made a mistake, which I'm sure there are more than one, I'll make the correction and upload it to the "Updates" page. You will be able to go to that page and download the corrected files to your Koi ID file on your desktop.
